Job Description

Game Path is working with a major mobile game developer based globally, actively seeking a QA Director to join their established team on an award winning title.

The role is permanent and remote with the ideal candidate to be already based within the US.

As QA Director, you’ll own the quality strategy for an existing live, free‑to‑play mobile title with a massive global player base. You will lead a distributed QA organization, partnering closely with production, engineering, design, live ops, and analytics to ensure world‑class quality across continuous releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and own the end‑to‑end QA strategy, vision, and roadmap for a flagship, live mobile title (iOS/Android), from feature conception through live operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high‑performing QA organization, including managers, leads, internal testers, and external vendors.
  • Establish and continuously improve QA processes, standards, and best practices for functional, compatibility, performance, usability, and live service testing.
  • Drive automation strategy in partnership with engineering, including test frameworks, integration into CI/CD, and coverage goals for client, server, and tools.
  • Partner with production and product management on release criteria, risk assessment, and go/no‑go decisions for builds, events, and major content drops.
  • Build and track QA KPIs (e.g., defect escape rate, test coverage, cycle time) and report quality status and risk to studio and executive leadership.
  • Champion a player‑first quality culture across the studio, ensuring player feedback, telemetry, and community sentiment feed into test plans and quality gates.
  • Coordinate QA support for A/B tests, live events, monetization features, and critical backend/service changes.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in QA for software, with at least 5+ years in mobile game testing and 4+ years in QA leadership roles (Manager/Director).
  • Proven track record owning QA for at least one successful, large‑scale, live mobile game or similar live service product.
  • Deep understanding of mobile F2P game lifecycles, live ops, feature experimentation, and the impact of quality on retention and monetization.
  • Strong expertise in test planning, risk‑based testing, regression strategy, performance and device coverage, and data‑driven quality decision‑making.
  • Hands‑on experience with test automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and build/release systems for mobile.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and scaling distributed teams and external vendors.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leadership and cross‑functional partners.
  • Based in the United States, with ability to work effectively across multiple time zones.
