Job Description
La Guilde, a new Canadian startup helping newcomers dive into tabletop role‑playing games, is looking for an experienced UI/UX designer to craft a medieval‑fantasy design system in Figma. This freelance, remote contract focuses on building a rich visual language that blends our brand identity with handcrafted fantasy elements, and it could develop into a longer‑term partnership.
What You’ll Do
• Expand our brand book (logo, fonts, colour palette, tone-of-voice) with a fantasy-inspired UI vocabulary.
• Create a comprehensive design system in Figma, including:
• A comprehensive set of icons (swords, shields, runes, scrolls, dice, etc.).
• Core components (buttons, toggles, checkboxes, inputs, cards, modals, navigation bars) with various states (hover, focus, disabled, and error).
• Decorative elements (borders, dividers, parchment-or-stone textures) that align with the brand.
• Produce clear documentation: usage guidelines, component variants, and design‑token specs.
Required Experience
• Portfolio must include medieval/fantasy‑style work that demonstrates hand‑drawn elements; we need original artwork, not AI‑generated graphics.
• Proven track record of design‑system work plus at least one thematic/illustrative project in a fantasy or historic style.
• Expert‑level proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto‑layout, design tokens).
• Ability to interpret and expand an existing brand book while preserving visual consistency.
• Strong communication skills; comfortable working independently and self-reliance, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
Preferred Skills
• Experience designing UI for games, RPGs, or fantasy‑themed digital products.
• Familiarity with front‑end hands-off processes.
• Knowledge of subtle motion design (e.g., shimmering rune effects).
Terms
• Freelance contracts, paid per deliverable.
• Fully remote; occasional video syncs during Canada business hours are preferred.
• Successful delivery may lead to ongoing collaboration on future La Guilde projects (e.g., TTRPG onboarding portal, companion app, etc.).
