Job Description
Senior QA Automation Engineer (SDET) – Contract to Hire
Duration: 6 months (C2H)
Location: 100% Remote
We’re hiring a senior-level, hands-on QA Automation Engineer (SDET) to design, build, and maintain scalable end-to-end automation frameworks across front-end and back-end systems. This is a technical role requiring deep experience with modern automation tools and strong ownership of framework quality and reliability.
This is titled as a “Lead,” but we need someone who is fully hands-on — not just overseeing, actually writing and maintaining code.
Core Focus
- Build, enhance, and maintain automation frameworks using Playwright, Cypress, and Mocha
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab)
- Support backend and data validation testing using SQL and Snowflake
- Ensure test reliability, scalability, and framework performance
- Perform limited manual testing when required to support release readiness
- Collaborate with Agile/Scrum teams in a large enterprise environment
Top 3 Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright / Cypress + Mocha
- True SDET experience (not just manual QA with some automation)
- CI/CD + SQL experience, including database validation
Must-Have Skills
- 5–7+ years of SDET or Automation Engineering experience
- Playwright
- Mocha
- Experience building and scaling test automation frameworks
- Ability to speak directly to hands-on contributions on their resume
Nice to Have
- Healthcare industry experience
- Snowflake
- SQL
- GitLab
Disqualifiers
- No real hands-on automation experience
- Can’t clearly explain their contributions to frameworks, pipelines, or test architecture
- Tool exposure without meaningful implementation depth
Role Summary
This role supports NextGen automation initiatives in an enterprise environment. You will be responsible for end-to-end automation strategy and execution while actively contributing code. Expect a heavy focus on framework ownership, CI/CD integration, and ensuring test quality across releases.
