Information Systems Security Engineer – Level 3

Arlington, VA (Relocation Assistance)


Opportunity Overview

Join a high-performing cybersecurity team supporting the design, development, and sustainment of classified secure enclaves. In this role, you will serve as a senior Information Systems Security Engineer delivering enterprise-grade cybersecurity services.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify points of vulnerability and compliance gaps
  • Design and engineer tailored cybersecurity solutions to enable defensive cyber threat emulation and defensive operations
  • Automate security monitoring, vulnerability scanning, threat hunting, and reporting workflows
  • Analyze security posture trends and deliver actionable findings to the ISSM/ISSO
  • Recommend risk-based mitigations for emerging threats and vulnerabilities
  • Implement and validate security controls in accordance with DoD policies (confidentiality, integrity, availability, authentication, non-repudiation)
  • Incorporate lessons learned from exercises, penetration tests, and compliance audits into system modifications
  • Support risk acceptance decisions during certification, accreditation, and continuous monitoring activities


Required Qualifications

  • Current DoD-approved Level III cert (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, CISM, CCSP, GSLC, etc.)
  • Strong hands-on skills in at least one of these areas:
  • Active Directory (AD, ADFS, certificates, WSUS)
  • ePO, Splunk, Tenable/ACAS, STIG/SCAP automation, YUM
  • Azure (VPN gateways, Monitor, Log Analytics, Automation)
  • 5–8 years of real cybersecurity or systems engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (CS, IT, Engineering) + 3 years leading tech teams OR equivalent experience/certifications if no degree
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Able to work onsite in Arlington, VA (live nearby or willing to Relocate)
  • Okay with up to 10% travel (mostly U.S., some overseas)


Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of formal leadership experience in cybersecurity, cloud security, or defensive cyber operations
  • Current Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., AZ-500, AZ-104, etc.) or equivalent cloud security credentials
  • Prior experience supporting RMF/A&A processes in classified DoD or IC environments
