Job Description


Role: Lab IT Support Specialist

Duration: 6+Months (Contract#W2 Only)

Location: Cambridge, MA(Onsite)


Overview:

This role supports and maintains IT systems in a laboratory environment. You’ll install and manage Windows-based computers connected to lab instruments, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure all systems follow company policies and security requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Set up and support lab IT systems and benchtop computers connected to scientific instruments.
  • Maintain Windows PCs, operating systems, hardware, printers, and core applications.
  • Ensure all lab computers stay connected, secure, and up to date.
  • Handle equipment onboarding, relocation, and retirement.
  • Manage user permissions, security policies, and group policies on Windows platforms.
  • Troubleshoot and repair IT and instrument-related issues; escalate when needed.
  • Keep accurate inventory of lab equipment, computers, software, and tools.
  • Follow documented procedures and best practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and submit weekly reports.
  • Serve as a point of contact for software and hardware questions.
  • Ensure compliance with client corporate policies.

  • Good verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on time.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or
  • 1+ year of technical experience with Windows systems, Microsoft Office, networking, remote access, or backups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scientific instruments.
  • Experience in a life sciences or laboratory environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Occasionally move around labs; remain seated for parts of the day.
  • Regular bending, stretching, and equipment handling.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs regularly; up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Must have clear close-range and distance vision for instrument work.
  • Use computers and office equipment as needed.

  • ServiceNow
  • Windows 11 upgrade experience

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Group Policy
  • Active Directory

Additional Notes

  • Open to junior candidates.
  • Pharma or life sciences IT background strongly preferred (e.g., AstraZeneca, Moderna, hospital IT).
