This role provides critical support to a high-functioning cybersecurity operations team, focusing on detecting, analyzing, and responding to security incidents across complex IT environments. You will play a key part in protecting organizational assets by monitoring network traffic, investigating potential intrusions, and mitigating risks using advanced tools and threat intelligence. The position involves shift coverage for overnight, weekend, and holiday periods, ensuring 24x7 operational security. Accountabilities:
- Monitor network activity for anomalies and potential security threats across multiple systems
- Perform in-depth investigations of security incidents, including intrusion detection and analysis
- Execute incident containment, mitigation, and recovery processes according to established protocols
- Develop and maintain incident response runbooks, playbooks, and documentation reflecting lessons learned
- Collaborate with other cybersecurity team members to improve detection and response capabilities
- Support overnight, weekend, and federal/state holiday coverage for a 24x7 Cybersecurity Operations Center
- Prepare detailed incident reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders
- Continuously update knowledge of emerging threats, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity incident response or related roles
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including intrusion detection, incident response, and threat intelligence
- Experience leveraging threat intelligence to anticipate and mitigate risks
- Knowledge of current cyber threats, attack vectors, and security best practices
- Proficiency with industry-standard security detection tools and analysis techniques
- Critical thinking and ability to make decisions under high-pressure situations
- Preferred experience with CISCO security tools and familiarity with state/federal incident response guidelines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration
