IT Infrastructure Consultant

12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Location: Home / Birmingham (Hybrid)

Salary: £54,000 - £64,000 (+ excellent benefits including 10% employer pension contributions)


Skills: SharePoint migration (on prem to Online), Server migrations (on prem to Cloud), Strong SQL experience


We are looking to recruit an IT Infrastructure Consultant for a public sector organisation going through a period of IT transformation. This hands-on role will combine technical delivery with strategic improvements and supplier management to ensure IT services meet current and future organisational needs.


This is an initial 12 month fixed term contract with the possibility of being extended or being converted in to a permanent role.


It is a hybrid role and you will be expected to work onsite in Birmingham city centre a minimum of 2 days a week.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead SharePoint migration from on-premise to cloud/SharePoint Online.
  • Manage server and infrastructure migrations to cloud platforms.
  • Support office relocation projects, including network, servers, and switch rollouts.
  • Provide SQL database administration and optimisation, ensuring secure and reliable operations.
  • Review, develop, and implement IT policies, standards, and architectural principles.
  • Manage supplier relationships, review bids, and ensure technology investments deliver value.


Candidate Requirements:


  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server, networks, cloud migrations (Azure or similar), and SQL.
  • Proven ability to lead projects during Go Live periods.
  • Strong stakeholder management and consultancy skills, able to communicate technical solutions to senior leaders and vendors.
  • Understanding of ITIL concepts and enterprise IT operations.
