About The Role
Disney Digital Entertainment, a division of Disney Experiences, is seeking a talented Lead UI/UX Designer to join an ambitious project aimed at creating the ‘digital front door’ for The Walt Disney Company. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the design and development of engaging user interfaces and immersive game experiences that will define the next generation of Disney’s digital offerings. Working within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for crafting intuitive, visually compelling UI elements that enhance gameplay and user engagement across multiple platforms including console, PC, and mobile. This remote position provides the flexibility to work from anywhere with potential minimal travel requirements.
The successful candidate will be a creative visionary with extensive experience in game development, a passion for Disney and its iconic properties, and strong leadership skills to guide a team of designers. You will collaborate closely with project leads, art directors, and development teams to produce innovative UI content utilizing Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting languages like Verse. Your expertise will help shape the visual language and user experience of groundbreaking interactive experiences that bring Disney’s beloved characters and worlds to life in new and exciting ways.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of game development experience, including at least one shipped game in a lead or managerial role.
- Proficiency in Unreal Engine and/or UEFN, with hands-on experience using UMG, Blueprints, and Verse scripting language.
- Experience leading and developing content across multiple gaming platforms such as console, PC, and mobile.
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Deep appreciation and understanding of Disney’s intellectual properties, including characters, lore, and franchise aesthetics.
- Proficiency in creating UI mockups and wireframes using tools like Figma or similar UI design software.
- Knowledge of best practices for creating smooth, engaging, and user-friendly interfaces for games.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
- Educational background with a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Collaborate with project leads and developers to design and implement UI elements that enhance player engagement and experience.
- Lead the UI development team, managing workflows, priorities, and quality standards.
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to visualize UI concepts and iterate based on feedback.
- Develop UI content using Unreal Engine, UEFN, and scripting languages like Verse, ensuring compatibility across different environments and platforms.
- Work closely with art teams to develop and maintain consistent UI style guidelines aligned with Disney’s branding and aesthetic standards.
- Design, implement, and refine UI and UX systems to improve gameplay flow and user satisfaction.
- Maintain detailed design documentation to facilitate clear communication and project continuity.
