About The Role

The Data Scientist at Mayo Clinic will play a pivotal role in analyzing large and complex datasets to uncover insights that can significantly impact patient health and healthcare delivery. This position requires a highly skilled individual with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, and statistical data analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with knowledge architects, informaticians, clinicians, and external partners to develop and deploy AI-driven solutions that support clinical decision-making and operational efficiencies. Responsibilities include designing predictive and prescriptive models, developing data management scripts, and providing enterprise-level consultative services. The position is fully remote, allowing flexibility in work location within the United States, with some travel requirements.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or a related analytical or quantitative field.
• Minimum of five years of professional or research experience in data science.
• Preferred: PhD in a relevant field with at least three years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, and machine learning packages.
• Deep expertise in scientific computing, data management, and analytical tools.
• Strong leadership skills with demonstrated experience managing technical teams and projects.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in developing predictive and prescriptive models using large-scale datasets.
• Experience providing consultative services at an enterprise level within healthcare or related sectors.
• Strong problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple projects while staying current with healthcare trends and technological advancements.
  
  

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed analysis of heterogeneous data sources to identify patterns and insights impacting patient health and operational efficiency.
• Design, develop, and implement advanced machine learning, statistical, and data mining models to address complex healthcare problems.
• Create scripts and software applications to support data extraction, management, and analysis tasks.
• Collaborate with clinicians, informaticians, and external partners to develop AI solutions that can be deployed at the point of care.
• Lead scientific projects and provide enterprise-level consultative services to various departments and divisions.
• Develop experimental designs to validate findings and test hypotheses, ensuring robustness of models and insights.
• Interpret data analysis results, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to stakeholders.
• Identify appropriate algorithms to discover patterns and develop predictive and prescriptive models.
