Job Description


This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Game Development Engineer, Automation Systems in United States.

This role offers a unique opportunity to ensure the stability, scalability, and efficiency of game development processes in a collaborative, innovative environment. The Senior Game Development Engineer will design, implement, and maintain automation, validation, and testing systems across Unreal workflows, supporting gameplay, design, art, QA, and build/release teams. You will mentor peers in test-driven development, optimize workflows, and drive forward-thinking practices that enhance production confidence and game quality. This position allows for significant technical influence while fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and sustainable engineering. It is ideal for a self-directed senior engineer passionate about shaping development health and enabling high-quality game production.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-discipline teams (gameplay, design, art, QA, build/release) to identify and resolve workflow inefficiencies
  • Design, implement, and maintain automated testing and validation frameworks within Unreal
  • Produce scalable test and validation systems while mentoring other developers in automation best practices
  • Partner with QA Engineering to align automation coverage with testing objectives
  • Monitor and ensure accountability for crash trends, build stability, and validation results across teams
  • Architect solutions supporting continuous integration, build health, and long-term maintainability
  • Champion sustainable engineering practices, including test-driven development and technical accountability
  • Debug and optimize systems in runtime and editor environments, and communicate technical recommendations clearly


Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in game development
  • Strong test-driven development mindset with the ability to teach and advocate best practices
  • Experience contributing to automation, build, or validation systems in shipped or live products
  • Familiarity with Unreal automation frameworks (functional tests, automation specs, or custom solutions)
  • Solid understanding of 3D math, gameplay programming, and game development concepts
  • Strong C++ programming skills and experience with large codebases; familiarity with Python, UE Blueprint, or build scripting a plus
  • Experience with CI/CD workflows, version control, build validation, and reporting pipelines
  • Demonstrated ability to execute broad objectives with minimal oversight
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, valuing maintainability, clarity, and continuous improvement
