Job Description
MUST be local to Chicago
This is a traveling role to different power plants in the Greater Chicago Metroplex
Experience in providing support for different locations such as warehouses, plants, or facilities.
- Provide on-site IT support for plant operations, addressing issues quickly and professionally.
- Strong communication/people skills are essential, dealing with high stress situations and upper management
- Assist in deploying networking and telecom equipment in coordination with the central Network Team.
- Offer hands-on support with server racks, switches, and basic networking infrastructure (no advanced programming/building required).
- Collaborate on team initiatives and assist with IT-related projects as needed.
- Deliver advanced technical support for desktop, laptop, and LAN users across office and plant environments, including senior leadership and field operations.
- Serve as the primary on-site IT contact, managing communication, coordination, and execution of local technology projects.
- Ensure compliance with all plant safety and operational protocols.
- Support IT operations during plant outages, system alerts, and emergency events.
- Track and resolve service requests through the internal ticketing system while documenting troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
- Provide system performance feedback and improvement suggestions to management.
- Maintain and follow standard operating procedures for imaging, configuration, and deployment of end-user devices.
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to hardware, software, networking, and printing.
- Participate in IT initiatives including system upgrades, relocations, and project-based implementations.
- Set up and support conference room technology, video conferencing, and virtual meetings.
- Collaborate with local site administrators to address region-specific IT needs and user requests.
- Manage hardware provisioning, software installations, and inventory tracking in coordination with asset management policies.
- Handle lifecycle management of PC equipment including installation, relocation, and decommissioning.
- Work closely with internal IT teams and vendors to complete site upgrades and ensure smooth project execution.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with plant and corporate personnel.
- Travel regularly to multiple operational sites, primarily within Texas, with occasional trips to additional regions.
- Flexibility for overtime or weekend work as required by maintenance or outage schedules.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of PC hardware (Dell, Lenovo) and network peripherals.
- Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11, Office 365, MS Exchange, Teams, and Cisco AnyConnect VPN.
- Familiarity with mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, MacBook) and cross-platform support.
- Experience with remote administration tools, Intune/Microsoft Endpoint Manager, and system imaging.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to support users across multiple levels of the organization.
- Microsoft certifications (MCP, MCSE) are a plus.
