Founding Full-Stack Software Engineer (Robotics Infrastructure)
Job Description
Founding Full-Stack Software Engineer - Robotics Platform
Location: Zürich, Switzerland · Full time - Onsite - Relocation Available
The opportunity,
I’m recruiting on behalf of a well-funded robotics start-up building a real-world security platform. This is a rare founding role with full end to end ownership, clear progression to Head of Software, and serious backing from top angels and operators. You will choose sensible tools, set engineering standards, and ship the first production system that connects robots, sensors and cloud.
What you’ll do
- Build the operator dashboard in TypeScript and React, focused on safe, responsive control.
- Design and run backend services and APIs in Python or Node, from auth to auditing, with solid persistence.
- Deliver robust video and telemetry paths using RTSP or WebRTC, including eventing and back-pressure handling.
- Bridge cloud and robotics with ROS 2 and DDS, tuning QoS for reliability and latency on mission-critical commands.
- Set up CI and CD, testing, logs, metrics and tracing. Own incident response and reliability from day one.
- Hire and mentor as the team scales into your organisation.
What you bring,
- Experienced builder who connects many moving parts
- 5 plus years shipping production systems in high-bar environments, for example big tech, defence tech or large-scale cloud.
- Strong TypeScript and React, plus at least one backend language, Python preferred.
- Hands-on with Docker, CI and CD, deployments to cloud or edge.
- Real time systems experience, for example WebSockets, queues or streaming, with a clear view on latency trade-offs.
- Transparent, accountable, comfortable pushing back when it protects outcomes.
- Motivated by security or defence and able to attract other smart people to the mission.
Nice to have,
- ROS 2 or DDS experience, or bridging robotics platforms to the cloud.
- RTSP or WebRTC streaming, or embedded systems exposure.
- Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code and modern observability tools.
- Simulation experience, for example Isaac Sim.
- Strong cyber security fundamentals.
Ways of working and support,
- Zürich based. Start remote while relocating, typically 4 to 6 weeks.
- No penny pinching on kit, top equipment from day one.
- Strong investor and mentor network. Active industry collaborations.
Process,
- Intro chat, take-home challenge, meet the team onsite.
