Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or EA (Enrolled Agent) to play a key role in launching our tax filing service for farmers and supporting our monthly bookkeeping and financial management operations.
This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven team at the intersection of agriculture, finance, and technology. We are actively developing innovative financial management software designed to make high-quality accounting support more accessible to farmers. The ideal candidate will be excited to test and implement new technology, adapt workflows, and help identify new opportunities to serve the farming community more effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Preparation & Filing (Farm Focus)
- Lead the rollout of our new farm tax filing service (beginning with the 2024 tax year).
- Independently prepare and file LLC and personal tax returns for farmers, handling simple tax scenarios such as Schedule F filings, depreciation (Form 4562), and W-2 income.
- Collaborate with partner CPA firms for complex tax situations.
Bookkeeping & Financial Management
- Manage all aspects of monthly and annual bookkeeping, including cash and accrual accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Support more advanced financial management, such as budgeting, projections, inventory tracking, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate general ledgers and ensure all financial statements reflect true operational performance.
- Handle loan tracking, including principal and interest allocation and asset depreciation schedules.
- Manage farm-specific inventory workflows — from livestock and feed to finished goods and COGS.
- Set up or clean up historical books for new customers and maintain cloud accounting integrations (QuickBooks Online, Xero, Square, Shopify, etc.).
Technology Implementation & Collaboration
- Partner with the technology team to test new software features and prototypes.
- Provide feedback to enhance automation, efficiency, and user experience.
- Integrate new systems into daily workflows as they are developed and released.
[Optional] Farmer-Facing Customer Service
- Communicate complex financial information in a clear and accessible way to farmers.
- Collaborate with external partners including CPA firms, lenders, and other stakeholders.
- Candidates preferring a more internal focus may choose a “Tax & Finance Expert” track instead of a customer-facing one.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Technical Expertise:
- Active CPA or EA license.
- Strong understanding of farm tax preparation, cash and accrual accounting, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Xero, including reconciliations, bank feeds, and journal entries.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, Index/Match, complex formulas).
- Solid grasp of GAAP principles—including revenue recognition, COGS, OPEX, assets, and liabilities.
Analytical & Operational Skills:
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to track down and resolve discrepancies.
- Experience managing loan balances, depreciation schedules, and complex farm inventories.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic, evolving environments.
Interpersonal & Cultural Fit:
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Passion for regenerative agriculture, sustainability, and strengthening rural economies.
- Commitment to collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Enthusiasm for working with technology to modernize farm financial management.

- Hybrid role based in Atlanta, GA (relocation assistance available).
- Comprehensive benefits package: health, dental, vision, and life insurance.
- Eligibility for monthly performance bonuses, equity opportunities, and discounts on farm-fresh products.
