About The Role
The Principal Staff Artificial Intelligence Engineer within the Simulation and Testing organization is a pivotal role focused on leading the development and execution of simulation-based validation strategies for autonomous vehicles. This remote position offers flexibility but expects candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, Milford, or Mountain View to report to the designated location at least three times per week. The successful candidate will oversee a team of engineers, guiding the creation of realistic and challenging test scenarios that ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of autonomous systems. You will shape the future of simulation capabilities, influence strategic roadmaps, and drive innovation in testing methodologies to support GM's autonomous vehicle development efforts.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 10 years of extensive experience in simulation and testing, preferably within the autonomous vehicle domain.
- Proven experience in developing or testing large-scale Machine Learning (ML) systems.
- Strong understanding of simulation platforms, methodologies, and evaluation strategies.
- Hands-on expertise in implementing validation methods, defining relevant metrics, and correlating simulation results with real-world behavior.
- Proficiency in programming languages relevant to simulation and testing.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of simulation-based validation strategies to ensure safety and performance standards are achieved.
- Mentor and guide a team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence in simulation methodologies.
- Define and execute robust validation methods, including creating sophisticated test scenarios and analyzing simulation results at scale.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with autonomous system development teams to integrate simulation testing seamlessly into the overall development lifecycle.
- Influence technical roadmaps and strategic priorities, aligning simulation efforts with organizational goals and product milestones.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in simulation and autonomous vehicle testing to drive continuous improvement.
- Competitive salary range between $225,000 and $344,800, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
