Role Overview

The Senior Manager, Data Platform is responsible for leading key data solutions that serve business stakeholders and partners. The core purpose of this role is to make data reliable, clean, secure, and accessible so that business teams and other stakeholders can use it to generate insights and make data-driven decisions. This individual oversees the day-to-day operations, management, and support of critical business applications, ensuring a world-class service experience for customers and internal partners.

This role carries overall responsibility for establishing, managing, and maintaining strategic relationships with internal business leaders. The Senior Manager also collaborates with other teams across the IT organization to ensure alignment of solutions and services with company objectives, architecture, security, and strategy. In addition, this individual works closely with business leaders, end-users, vendors, contractors, and consultants to define and deliver technical solutions and services through the organization’s Data Platform.

The individual in this position divides their time between supporting existing business solutions and driving new, transformational initiatives. They will also build and manage a high-performing technical team to deliver on all support, project, and development goals related to Data Platform capabilities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leaders and IT teams to prioritize and lead the delivery of new data-focused capabilities (support, enhancements, and projects) across the organization.
  • Build and maintain close relationships with business leaders, IT teams, and other stakeholders as a key contributor in defining solution objectives, eliciting and prioritizing requirements, planning and architecting project implementations, acquiring resources, managing risks, and maintaining a platform/service roadmap.
  • Develop, formalize, and sustain relationships with strategic IT vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on data needs supporting business processes and operations.
  • Gather feedback, manage, and measure the performance and business value of Data Platform services.
  • Help shape the current and future state of IT and business capabilities supported by the Data Platform.
  • Assist business process owners in obtaining approval for new projects in accordance with IT PMO governance processes.
  • Manage a team of full-time employees, partner resources, contractors, and consultants to achieve delivery goals.
  • Guide business process owners and subject matter experts in estimating budgets, business resources, and participants required to meet objectives.
  • Ensure the IT Service Portfolio and Roadmap accurately reflect initiatives requiring Data Platform solutions.
  • Deliver results by setting clear expectations, planning and monitoring progress, coaching and providing feedback, and enforcing systems, policies, and productivity standards.
  • Effectively manage a distributed team (of varying sizes) composed of internal and external resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience managing technology project delivery across the software development lifecycle using Agile/DevOps practices and tools.
  • Proven experience developing, coaching, and leading a geographically dispersed technical team.
  • Strong understanding of data storage, processing, and analysis concepts and tools.
  • Strong understanding of Master Data Management (MDM) concepts and tools.
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed, global environment is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, or a related IT field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience, with at least 7 years in building and supporting enterprise-grade data management solutions.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing technical resources, including full-time employees and consulting partners.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Azure Data Services ecosystem, including Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Data Lake, Microsoft Fabric, SQL DB, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, and Logic Apps.
  • Azure experience strongly preferred; equivalent AWS or GCP experience will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines, data orchestration frameworks, and data integration tools (ESB, APIs, etc.).
  • Experience with MDM platforms such as Reltio, Informatica MDM, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, data architecture, modeling, and integration patterns.
  • Experience delivering data management solutions for structured and semi-structured data.
  • Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, and data stewardship best practices.
  • Experience building AI/ML solutions is a strong plus.
  • Azure, AWS, or GCP certifications are a strong plus.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
