About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Quality Assurance/Quality Control Site Level Lead to oversee and manage quality assurance and quality control activities across our global hyperscale data center program. This key leadership role involves ensuring that all construction, commissioning, and operational phases meet or exceed OpenAI’s rigorous standards for quality, performance, and reliability. The ideal candidate will develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive QA/QC standards, inspection protocols, and acceptance criteria, working closely with contractors, design teams, and commissioning agents to embed a quality-first culture across all project stages. Based in San Francisco, CA, this role offers a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week and relocation assistance for qualified candidates. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering mission-critical infrastructure that supports OpenAI’s innovative AI ecosystem at a global scale.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience managing QA/QC for mission-critical, hyperscale, or complex commercial developments.
- Deep technical knowledge of construction means, methods, and quality standards across all major trades.
- Proficiency in interpreting design documents, specifications, and submittals to verify compliance in the field.
- Experience developing and implementing quality management systems at a program or portfolio level.
- Strong communication skills, capable of translating technical findings into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive problem-solving skills to identify potential quality issues early and mitigate risks.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, complex environments and drive accountability across multiple teams and contractors.
- Experience working with international or large-scale data center projects is preferred.
- Oversee and enforce quality assurance and quality control processes throughout all phases of the data center construction and commissioning.
- Develop, implement, and maintain QA/QC standards, inspection protocols, and acceptance criteria aligned with project specifications and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with contractors, design teams, and commissioning agents to ensure compliance with all quality standards and project timelines.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to verify adherence to quality standards, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
- Lead root cause analysis for any quality issues or non-conformances, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure quality objectives are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Provide training and guidance to site teams on quality standards, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Monitor and report on quality metrics, trends, and compliance status to senior management and project teams.
